Cyrus
His muscles were so tight with desire Cyrus feared he might snap in two from the strain. As soon as Alix told him she wanted him, blood rushed between his legs until his cock throbbed for the feel of her.
Take her. Take her now, his wolf howled. But the woman haunted his dreams and waking thoughts for weeks, and he meant to enjoy every whimper and cry he dragged from that beautiful mouth.
In the trapperâs cabin, she had been hungry and desperate, grasping for release with both hands, but that was nowhere near the kind of pleasure he planned to give her. So Cyrus kissed her deeply, with slow sweeps of his tongue, as if he had all the time in the world.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and curled her fingers in his hair. There were too many clothes between them. He needed to feel the velvet of her skin, to taste the salt and heat of her.
With deliberate care, he ran his hands up the length of her body, over the curve of her hips to her neck, and unclasped the red cloak. It slipped from her shoulders with a rustle to land on the moss.
She arched into his touch, breasts pressed against his chest as she fumbled with the buttons of his fly. The backs of her fingers brushed his cock, making his hips flex toward her hand. If he could not calm himself he would be buried to the hilt before he had a chance to enjoy her.
His forehead dropped to hers, their breath mixing, the air between them thick with desire as clothing slid from sensitive skin. Before long Alix stood in nothing but her torn chemise, and he in his trousers, their discarded clothes in a pile at their feet.
He ran his fingers through her hair and untangled her braid, the cool silk slipping across his skin until it hung in shining waves to her hips. She stood in the shade, her lips swollen from kissing him, nipples pink and pressing hungrily against the thin fabric that did not quite conceal her body.
His mouth went dry as he slid the straps off her shoulders. The wild beating of her heart called to him more than the velvet of her skin or the dark curls at the apex of her thighs.
But it was her eyes that arrested him, luminous amber surrounded by dark lashes, both hungry and vulnerable, hovering on the edge of fully trusting him. A fist of mingled tenderness and desire clenched around his heart.
âYou cannot be real,â he said, gaze sliding from the crown of her head, down the column of her throat, touching the shadow of her collarbones. A single red jewel hung from a chain around her neck and rested between her breasts, winking in the shifting shadows like a drop of blood.
It drew his eye to the pale scar of the bullet heâd drawn from her chest weeks ago. Other scars, older and more harrowing, were scattered across her body.
